The short version
Sukoon collects nothing about you. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no servers of ours for your information to sit on.
The app calculates your prayer times on your phone. Your location is used there and then, and it never leaves the device. Nothing you do in the app is sent anywhere, because the app has no ability to send anything anywhere.
What we collect
Nothing. Not your name, not your email, not your location, not which prayers you logged, not how often you open the app.
This is not a promise we are asking you to take on trust. The app contains no code capable of making a network request. It has no analytics library, no advertising library, and no third party software of any kind built into it. On Apple's App Store the privacy label reads Data Not Collected, which is the strictest label available and is simply true.
Your location
Prayer times and the qibla direction depend on where you are, so the app asks for your location when you first open it. When you allow it:
- your coordinates are used on your phone, by the app, to work out the times for that day
- they are not transmitted, uploaded, logged to a server, or shared with anyone
- they are not kept as a history of where you have been
You do not have to allow it. You can type a city instead and the app works exactly the same way. You can change your mind at any time in the iPhone Settings app.
Notifications
Prayer alerts, the morning message and the Friday reminder are all scheduled by your phone, on your phone, in advance. There is no push server, so nothing about your schedule or your habits reaches us. You control every one of them in the app's Settings, and you can turn them all off.
What is stored on your phone
The app saves a few things locally so it can remember them between openings:
- your settings: calculation method, madhab, city, notification preferences
- your prayer journal: which prayers you have ticked off
- your saved favourite messages, and your tasbih count
- your quiz history: scores and the days you played
All of it lives in the app's own private storage on your device, protected by the same iPhone security that protects everything else on it. None of it is visible to us. If you delete the app, all of it is deleted with it. There is no copy anywhere else, and no way for you to lose your data to us because we never had it.
Children
Sukoon is rated 4+ and is suitable for all ages. Since we collect no information from anyone, we collect none from children either.
This website
sukoonprayer.com is a single static page. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and loads nothing from advertising networks, tracking services or content delivery networks. We do not know who visits it.
The mosque enquiry form is the one place you can send us anything. It does not submit to a server. It opens your own email app with the details filled in, so nothing is stored on the site and you can see exactly what you are sending before you send it. If you do email us, we hold that email in an ordinary mailbox for as long as we need it to reply to you, and we do not add you to a mailing list or pass it to anyone.
Third parties
There are none. No analytics provider, no advertising network, no crash reporting service of ours, no cloud database, no payment processor.
One thing worth naming. Apple gives every developer aggregate statistics about their app, such as how many people downloaded it and in which countries, and reports of crashes from people who chose to share diagnostics with developers in their iPhone settings. Apple collects that, not us. It is anonymous and grouped, it never identifies you, and it happens for every app on the App Store regardless of what the developer does. It is the only information we ever see, and it tells us nothing about any individual.
Your choices and your rights
Privacy laws give people rights to see, correct, export and delete the personal information a company holds about them. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to show you, correct, export or delete.
Everything the app knows is on your phone and under your control: turn location off in iPhone Settings, turn notifications off in the app, clear your journal by unticking days, or delete the app to remove all of it at once.
Changes to this policy
If Sukoon ever changes in a way that affects this, we will update this page and change the date at the top before the new version reaches the App Store. If a future feature ever needed to send something off your device, it would be optional, it would be explained plainly before you turned it on, and the App Store privacy label would change to say so. We would rather lose the feature than lose the promise.
